Emma Caldwell is 9 years old and was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was 14 months old, Emma has endured years of chemo. 3 years ago the family went to America for Proton Beam Radiotherapy. Since having Proton Beam Radiotherapy Emma’s tumour has unfortunately not reduced in size but it remains stable and she is monitored regularly with MRI scans. The proton therapy has caused many side effects including issues with her working memory and hormone issues. Emma is currently receiving daily growth hormone injection and injections every 10 weeks to stop her going any further into puberty. Emma is amazing and never moans about all the treatment she has being through, she just gets on with it with a big smile on her face.
Emma would love to lead a normal life with no hospital visits. When Emma is well enough she loves going to the theatre and days out. The family really wanted a Merlin Pass for Emma so that when she is feeling well enough they can all just jump into the car and go for a day out. It’s hard to plan ahead with Emma as some days she is so tired she just wants a PJ day.
Well we at the trust where delighted to help but not just Emma but Merlin passes for the whole family, enjoy making those memories.
